The greatest instinct of my life has been to seek the Divine and share its light and love with others. I’ve learned that getting closer to that Spirit of infinite love doesn’t mean that life gets easier. In fact the further I’ve gotten into my spiritual growth and personal development, the more challenging things get. The difference comes in how we choose to weather the storms.

I feel that one of my true purposes in this life is to help people navigate challenges with a growth-minded outlook. You too can turn the hardest moments in your life into your greatest seasons of growth.

My own life has included a complex sexual journey, a life-altering divorce and custody battle, bankruptcy and the ongoing pursuit of harmony with those who have previously sought to tear me down.

Navigating these experiences, coming out on top and being able to feel gratitude for each challenge along the way has led to the core perspectives that show up in everything I do:

  • We need not agree on what to call it in order to tap into the Divine flow of Spirit that can carry us to our next level of growth, self-expression and purpose.

  • The challenges in our lives happen for us to support our healing and growth — never to us.

  • Our greatest growth, transformation and satisfaction in life come from radical surrender, integrity and compassion.

My spiritual journey

The greatest desire of my life has been to find and to know and to become one with what I call “God,” though the concept to which I refer has many names. I was born into a Presbyterian family, and felt called to ordained ministry even before being received into the Episcopal Church at age 16. There, my thirst for a more deeply engaged, devotional expression of faith was quenched through liturgy. I went to college as a pre-seminarian, intent on becoming a priest. In my early twenties, my spiritual inclination was fueled by my discovery of metaphysics, an introduction to the synthesis between religion and science and the beginnings of a meditative practice through A Course in Miracles. I was blessed through marriage to practice Judaism, aspects of which are fully-integrated into my family and spiritual life today.

In my early 30s, each thread of my spiritual life became tightly woven into the tapestry of teachings by Paramahansa Yogananda. Therein I have discovered a unifying Truth underlying the world religions, a clarification of the teachings of Jesus that brings his message off the page and a daily spiritual practice that is my bedrock. This history of spiritual practice and personal development work create a foundation that has enabled me to reach new depths in my growth through my humble and respectful work with plant medicine.
